Beating Heart

This piece was a combination of something really old and something new- in the sense that the flower line art was drawn a long long time ago...in fact, I think it was actually done back during my first attempt at drawing something on Photoshop with my mouse, so it's not spectacular or anything.

My purpose in using something old to create something new was because of what I was (and am still) going through- how I really miss the old days when I had so much more freedom in the things that I do and how I also used to be able to freely express myself through my art. Somehow, I feel that's changed throughout the years and it's something that I was always rather depressed about...because I always felt as though I've lost my path.

It also portrayed how dead I've felt in the last couple of years- just passing day by day in a blur that sometimes I forget how to really live. So in a way, this piece expresses my desire to have something jolt me out of this "dead" life...to feel the beating heart and find the fire in me...and to also remember the old days when I could channel myself into my art rather than slam into a wall like I so often feel in the recent years. All in all, it's a pretty personal piece...

Everything drawn on Photoshop with my trusty mouse- the line art was on version 6.0 and everything else was done on CS. Any brush work or patterns that may have been used were also initially drawn from scratch- some of the ones I used are offered in various resource download sets on my site here.
